SCBT recognizes the importance of safeguarding our personal and business customers' information. With this awareness, we have made significant investments in our information security infrastructure and in the education of our employees who are charged with ensuring the safety of this information.

Please read the information below concerning personal accounts and business accounts in regards to the security breach at the South Carolina Department of Revenue in 2012.

Personal Customers

Approximately 3.8 million Social Security numbers and 387,000 credit and debit card numbers are affected by the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) data breach. Account numbers used to pay taxes or receive refunds may also be affected.

South Carolina tax payers impacted by last year's breach can enroll for up to one year of identity and credit protection coverage with CSID by visiting www.scidprotection.com  or by calling 1-855-880-2743. The deadline for enrollment is October 1, 2014.  S.C. taxpayers, their dependents, and businesses who filed an electronic S.C. tax return between 1998 and 2012 may be eligible for this coverage.

For more information and to view other protection resources, please visit www.consumer.sc.gov. In addition, the SCDOR is encouraging you to change your online passwords as well as put fraud alerts and a security freeze on your credit report.
